Journal 3- Up All Night

Earlier this morning, Directioners across the world tuned in to BBC Radio 1 to hear the premier play of One Direction’s latest single, “Little Things.”

I, being a true Directioner, stayed “Up All Night” to hear the song. I’d heard via Twitter and Tumblr that the song would air on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw.

The song aired at around 1:00 a.m., pacific time. That’s about 8:00 a.m. over in the UK. It was truly amazayn.

At any rate, while anticipating the song’s arrival on the airwaves, I actively scrolled through my Tumblr dashboard and learned that One Direction’s VEVO channel put up the lyric video to “Little Things” before it actually aired on British radio, which apparently was not supposed to happen. Fortunately for me, though, I got to listen to the song a bit early—brilliam!

Also, the schedule for that day’s Breakfast Show included a four-minute call from none other than Niall Horan. I, being a Nialler fan, was ecstatic. Hearing that Irish accent live from my computer… phenomeniall.

In the moments leading up to and during the airplay of the single, the 1D fandom of Tumblr went insane, and I confess to flooding many dashboards with gifs and textposts about One Direction and how “Little Things” was making people across the globe actually cry.

After, I went on Omegle to talk to other Directioners about this historic moment, staying up till 5 a.m., despite my 10 a.m. chemistry lecture later that day.
