I Am in the Band

Today, as well as last Friday, Pomona College’s band held a concert at Little Bridges Hall of Music, where it performed the pieces it’d been working on since the start of the semester.

We performed eight pieces, ranging from tuba concerto to march, with a short intermission neatly placed in the middle.

Being in the band has been nice. Having played flute since fourth grade, as well as participating in parade band during middle school and field show band during high school, continuing my music career at Pomona has been a pleasant experience.

We meet twice weekly, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. During that time, we rehearse our music repertoire for our concerts at the end of each semester.

Unfortunately, no recording or photographing of the performance is permitted.

Overall, being in band has been fun. I’ve made a few friends from it, and my ability to read music has improved.

While I’m not sure if I’ll be able to devote time for it next semester, I do think that I’ll be up on stage sometime later during my four years at Pomona College.
