Hit the Ground Running

Yes, I am still alive. And yes, I am terrible because I haven’t blogged since starting my second semester. I can’t believe how quickly this semester has reached full swing. But now with my routine set for the next few months, I’ve been thinking about what I want to try to accomplish this semester that I might not have done in the fall.

One thing that stands out in my mind is that I want to take advantage of being in the Los Angeles area. Being from Sydney, I would hear about awesome concerts, shows, etc. that would be taking place somewhere far away from me. Southern California is usually a pretty popular location for these sorts of events, so one of my goals for the semester was to go out and explore the area (like Pomona encourages us to do).

This past weekend, I finally made it into LA to explore. I started Saturday morning off by participating in the Color Run. The Color Run is a 5k fun run to raise money for Casa Colina and gets its name because by the end of the course, you end up looking like this:

Color Run

Throughout the course, colored powder is thrown at you, and you are given your own pouch of color to go crazy at the finish. It was so much fun, and such a unique experience!

But that wasn’t even all! After showering off, I checked an item off of the 47 Things list by going to a comedy show. It was a show featuring a few YouTubers (DailyGrace, anyone?), and was absolutely hilarious. I was really excited when the show was announced and realized that it was taking place just an hour away from where I’m living. I hope that I am able to continue to take advantage of being in Los Angeles throughout the rest of the semester. (And, really, for the rest of my time at Pomona.)

(And on a completely unrelated note, the dashboard tells me that there are currently 47 comments on the blog. Chirp!)
