A Little Work, A Lot of Play

Exploration has always been an important aspect of my life. Coming to Pomona, I could not wait to explore beautiful SoCal and the surrounding areas. Over the course of the past month, I’ve debatably explored a larger variety of areas than I ever have before. Just a few highlights:

1. Deep Creek Hot Springs

The Deep Creek Hot Springs are absolutely beautiful. Parts of the hike are a bit technical and steep, but so worth it. The hot springs are wonderful—warm, relaxing and generally peaceful. One warning: some hot springs visitors dislike clothing.

2. San Diego

Mission Beach, delicious Mexican food, pools and sunshine are just a few of San Diego’s best attributes. The combination of sunning, swimming, chatting and playing with friends is definitely not a bad way to spend a couple days. Biking on the boardwalk is pretty fun as well.

3. Sonoma County Vineyards

Not only is Sonoma County breathtakingly beautiful, but the area also offers myriad options for entertainment. From winetasting to waterskiing, Sonoma provided a great time. My friends and I began our visit with a trip to a small vineyard for a low-key barrel tasting. We then went to a winery for a bit more wine tasting. We spent the night at my friend’s home and woke the next morning for a day of waterskiing, innertubing and picnicking.

4. Mammoth Mountain

Six hours (four if speeding) lies Mammoth Mountain, a large and beautiful ski resort. The mountain is generally known for great powder, epic terrain and endless fun times. Mammoth is a great adventure for anyone looking to ski, snowboard or just play around in the snow.

5. Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, enough said.
