Spring Has Sprung Around Campus

Robins are singing and the daffodils are blooming. Rejuvenation, revitalization, renewal, regeneration, revival and joy fill the world as spring returns yet again.

A list of my five favorite aspects of springtime on campus:

1. The Greenery

Trees around campus hang heavy with bright oranges, fresh limes and deliciously fragrant flowers. Leaves sporting a brilliant hue of cheerful green cover recently bare branches. Intoxicating scents of irises, roses and hollyhocks fill the air.

2. Daytime Festivities

Saturdays are now filled with carnival tents, live music and free food. From the International Festival, a celebration of various world cultures and countries, to Kohoutek, a celebration of music and art, most Saturdays promise an outdoor fiesta for 5C students to enjoy.

3. Song Birds

Though 6:00AM or 7:00AM is earlier than most students’ desired wake-up time, the chirping, whistling and twittering of returning birds is a pleasanter alarm than the typical clock buzzer. Additionally, the daily morning serenade of tweets promises a beautiful morning waiting just outside the dorm door.

4. Hot Days and Warm Nights

On the topic of beautiful mornings, sunny SoCal enjoys ideal weather when springtime rolls around. Comfortably hot days are followed by pleasantly warm evenings, allowing for a 24/7 uniform of shorts and a t-shirt.

5. Registration Excitement

Students grow antsy with excitement as they begin choosing classes for the following school year. Thoughts of engaging professors and interesting courses fill minds and anticipation for next year grows.
