Studying, Songs and Blogging: A Typical Saturday Morning

It’s the first weekend of the school year, and I’m already procrastinating by writing a blog post. No, seriously though, it’s a bit of a problem. As I sit down to write a paper on Machiavelli for one of my Politics courses, I find myself drifting onto Voices to talk about my feelings. This form of expression is becoming a bit habitual, but that’s fine – there’s something cathartic about airing your grievances publicly.

Except I don’t really have any grievances to air. I’m not super stressed out (yet), I don’t have too much work (yet) and I don’t have too many obligations (yet). Yet I still find myself clanking away at the keyboard, typing into a little text box about what music I’m listening to.

One thing that keeps me going while I’m doing work is music. Something about good music calms me down and gets me in the groove of studying. Depending on my mood, there’s a lot of different types of music I gravitate towards listening to, but the end result is the same: an assembled playlist simultaneously soothing me and propelling me towards academic excellence. Or, at the very least, a fun karaoke session in my bedroom.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love music almost more than I love Foucault. And let me tell you – I love Foucault a lot. So, I thought what better way to start blogging this semester than to give you a list of the top 5 songs I have on rotation while I’m doing my homework! Maybe this will inspire other bloggers here to share music – I’m always on the lookout for some new stuff, so whether you’re just reading this or you’re a blogger, send some stuff my way!
