Sunday, August 26 – Day One

Move-in day… exciting, right?  What better way to talk about my first day at Pomona than to show you about my first day at Pomona?

After checking in, I needed to get my photo taken for my ID card. These are the people who greeted me “Pomona style.”

In the room where students get their pictures taken, I spotted these. The Vietnamese reminded me of my family back home.

I will be living in Blaisdell 2 Back. Fancy sign, huh.

This is what awaited my arrival. It was found sitting on my desk.

After getting settled in, sponsor groups went to get lunch. Here is lunch.

Nothing says fancy better than a cheese plate.

I ran into my AAMP mentors: Ramon, to the left, and Erika, to the right. Look at how happy they are to see their ment-ee.

Do you realize that I was born in 1994? Pomona, your age is showing.

Afterward, we headed to Bridges for the “President’s Welcome to the College.”

Look who?! I had to do some explaining before he’d allow me to take the photo. He says he’s read some of these blog entries. Hey there, Mr. President! (And VP.)

Sponsor group-meeting! “What is your PGP?”

Nothing like icebreakers to get spiblings to know one another.

OA people are very energetic, in a crazy way.

Why were people giving us flowers why I don’t know why

Of course, Cecil had to be there.

As the gates say, you know.

We sort of walked  through the gates. It was loud. People are so loud. OA people were chanting.

I mean, our families must be excited for us, too.

Afterward, we went to Little Bridges, where VP and Dean of Students Miriam Feldblum welcomed us yet again.

You guys, I was so tired, like seriously.

There was an “ice cream social” for Mudd-Blaisdell and Gibson students.

And there you have it. “Founded 1887.”
